About Green Discussion
Green Discussion is a part of annual campaigns led by NYCA. The name itself clarifies the concept of 'Green Discussion', as a platform where youths from diverse backgrounds belonging to different institutions gather together at a place for discussion over certain specified topics. It mainly leads to discussions over the ongoing environment-related issues and climate change. A resource person will be invited to speak on the topic, who then puts forward his/her experiences and knowledge presenting the concept and clarify about the unsolved doubts of participants leading the discussion.
Objectives:
- To aware youths about climate change, climate-related laws, climate actions
- To build youth capacity on knowledge, leadership, and raising voice against injustice
- To work together with youths to solve environmental and sustainability problems
- To build a network between youths and also environmentalists

Description: COP25, a UN climate change conference, is the supreme decision-making body of UNFCCC. We are on the brink of missing the opportunity to limit global warming to 1.5 degree Celcius. In order to stabilize the temperature to 1.5 degree, we need to cut down annual emissions by more than 50% by 2030. Youth involvement and mobilization is a very important part to tackle the climate change process. Making youth a part of the climate change movement and the campaign will be very helpful to overcome climate change.
- Sharing of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification

Description: The United Nations Convention To Combat Desertification is a convention to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought through a national action program that incorporates long-term strategies supported by the international corporations and partnership arrangements. The Convention addresses specifically the arid, semi-arid, and sub-humid areas, called dryland where some of the vulnerable ecosystems and people can be found. It is committed to a bottom-up approach, encouraging the participation of local people in combating desertification and degradation.

Date:25th January 2019(Friday Description: Electric vehicles in the Kathmandu valley are the true electric vehicles with zero emission. Air pollution has become a major environmental threat for Kathmandu residents. Kathmandu valley is suitable for electric vehicles because choking air pollution in the busy streets of Kathmandu due to vehicles can be reduced. Low speed and capacity to travel short distances by electric vehicles are other reasons that can be suitable in Kathmandu as it has a short travel distance.

Description: A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases that are generated by our actions, usually expressed as a measure of weight, as in tons of CO2 or CO2 equivalent per year. Carbon calculators on the Internet allow people to compare their own estimated carbon footprints with the national and world averages.
Description: Light pollution is an excessive, misdirected, or obtrusive artificial light, that washes out starlight in the night sky, interferes with astronomical research, disrupts ecosystems, has adverse health effects, and wastes energy. Shielding lights properly, by only using light when and where it is needed, significantly reduces glare, light trespass, and skyglow.
- Climate Emergency

Description: Climate Emergency is a situation in which urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change and avoid potentially irreversible environmental damage resulting from it. It admits the measures and actions taken so far to fight climate change haven’t been enough and represents a formal commitment to set priorities to mitigate climate change.
