Event News: On the occasion of Valentine day, Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) organized “Love letter and Couple Run Competitions” in Bhugol park, New road on 14th of February 2015. The program was organized to express our love and concern about our beloved Earth and Environment. As Valentine day, the day of love, is the most popular among the young people. As previous year, NYCA celebrated it bit differently. It tried to add some love, romance and fun for some good cause (for Nature). This time NYCA organized a Love letter for nature writing completion along with Couple Run. The program divided into two half; love letter narration and Couple Run was directly watched by more than 100 youths.
According to Event Coordinator, Mr. Lalmani Wagle, there were more than 50 letter expressing their deep love and affection about the Nature from all corner of Nepal. He added, as there was no any limitation for writing a Letter of Nature, NYCA received letter from students of class 6 to Master’s level. The selection of winner was judged by the 4 jury which includes, Benju Sharma (literature), Prakash Basnet (Environmentalist), Binay Ram Bhatta (Celebrity), Shankar Pd Sharma (NYCA Coordinator/Youth activist). In the love letter competition, 10 top writers have presented their letter on the mass. On the competition Ms. Shrijina Bhatta secure first position and Ms. Sharmila Khanal and Mr. Pradeep Poudel secure second and third position respectively.
Similarly, more than 20 couples participated in the Couple Run competition. In the competition one leg of couples were tied with each other’s leg and were asked to compete with other couples. Top 3 winners of both competitions were awarded. Meanwhile, Campaign and Media coordinator of NYCA, Regan Sapkota said, both the completion were organized for certain cause and objectives. “Love letter for Nature” was organized to express the love of youths towards mother Earth through their pen and plus to enhance their skill of environmental literature. He added while Couple Run was organized to develop mutual coordination and love. As trust and coordination is necessary between the partners to reach the Global Climate target. And, as it plays a significant role NYCA tried to deliver the message of “Importance of trust and coordination” through this running competition.
