Manjeet Dhakal Summit Coordinator

Manjeet Dhakal has been working on Clean Energy Nepal as focal person for Climate Change and advocacy campaign. He is currently doing his thesis on Climate Change Impacts on Characteristics of River Flow and Hydropower Generation in Nepal for his Masters Degree in Pokhara University, Nepal.
Manjeet is a researcher, trainer and Youth activates by profession. He is also accredited as 'International Climate Champion' by British Council. Manjeet is the founder Coordinator of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA).

Prashanta Khanal National Coordinator (Nepal)

He is currently involved as a Program Assistant in Clean Energy Nepal (CEN) and pursuing his master degree in Environmental Management. He is one of the founder members of Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) and working as Coordinator-Communication and Information Unit.
He has worked as City Volunteer for Kathmandu Metropolitan City and CEN; Climate Volunteer for European Commission, CEN and WWF Nepal in 2007/08. He has coordinated different national level of conferences and workshops on climate change, air pollution, solid waste management etc. He has successfully coordinated Nepalese Youth Summit on Climate Change, 22-24th Nov 2008, Seminar on Youth and Climate Change on International Youth Day-2008 and workshop on climate change and air pollution on August 2008 etc. He is actively involved in disseminating information, empowering, mobilizing and motivating youths and children of schools, colleges and universities for effective climate action and environmental conservation since past two years.
He is pursuing his master degree in Environmental Management in School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS)

Bhuwan KC Coordinator- Thematic

Bhuwan is amalgamation of “Bhu” as “Earth” and “Wan” as “Forest”. As his name symbolizes he has deep interest in protecting the earth whose resources are foundation for human existence. He believes that “majority of the problems in earth are man-made so they should search for their solution”. He started to work in climate change as a researcher in 2007. At the moment, he is involved in youth activism and climate advocacy.
He has a Bachelor Degree in Development Studies from Kathmandu University. His key expertise is in the areas of project development and management, climate advocacy, youth development. He has served as president and executive member of Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Metro and Development Studies Society during his college days. He is currently executive member of Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) and general secretary of Youth Engagement in Sustainability (YES). He is affiliated with organizing committee of SAYSoCC as Thematic Coordinator.

Will Bates is a co-founder and coordinator of stepitup2007.org and 350.org. He graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont, USA in 2006 and has been working on building the climate movement full time since then.

He is Environmental Science (Hons.) graduate from Kathmandu University, 2008 and worked as climate Volunteer “Youths in changing Climate Change” for WWF Nepal and CEN. He has attended the climate advocacy training 2009, Turkey and traced Danish Climate responsibility, Denmark 2009.
He likes to interact with young people and motivate them to contribute positively to the environment and highlight Nepal’s issue in the international arena. His area of interest is climate change policy, adaptation and mitigation and participation of youth in environmental movement.
He is among one of the founder member of NYCA and working as Co-ordinator (Program Design and Management)

He is currently the Country Coordinator of the Sri Lankan Youth Climate Action Network (SLYCAN), Executive Director of The Youth Link Movement (YLM), Editor of the Queen’s & President’s Scout Guild, President of Law Students Association of Sri Lanka (LSASL), Associate member of “UK Association of Professionals” and holder of Black Belt in 3rd Dan Master Degree in International Martial Arts- Shotokan Karate Federation. He is currently studying Law at the University of London, UK.
He was awarded the Red Certificate of Excellence as a Cadet in 2005, The President’s Scouts Award & The Most Outstanding Student’s Award. His International representations are- 20th World Scout jamboree, Thailand in 2003, World Future Leaders Summit, Washington DC in 2003, Asian Youth Climate Summit, Hong Kong in 2008 and The World Leadership Conference in Singapore in 2008
He poses a Diploma in Waterfalls and Natural Resource Management and Diploma in Environmental Journalism. He is also a life member of Lanka Council on Waterfalls and also a member of Young Zoologist Association of Sri Lanka

Amita Thapa Magar Coordinator-Logistic

She is the permanent resident of Lalitpur, is actively working in field of Clean air and Climate Change over the years. Currently, she is pursuing her Masters degree in Environmental Management at School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS). She holds a scholarship Chandra Gurung Memorial Fellowship from WWF Nepal.
Highly motivated and dedicated personnel, she believes the most in team effort. Her relevant experience of working with various personnel, groups, school children and college students have helped her gain a good team building capacity with her excellent presentation and communication skills.
At present, she is engaged in Nepalese Youth for Climate Action as an Outreach Unit- Coordinator. The NYCA performer of the year 2009 is also one of the Climate Champions in 2009 awarded by the British Council.

Chaitanya Kumar National Coordinator (India)

He is currently the National Coordinator of the Indian Youth Climate Network". An NGO that works on Climate Advocacy amongst the millions of youth in India. He has a bachelors degree in computer science from Hyderabad. He has worked with other youth organizations like AIESEC, Helix for a brief moment and is currently juggling between IYCN and a freelance journalism job with a life style magazine called 'WoW Hyderabad'.
He collects movies and music from across the globe as a favourite past time and enjoys social media, quizzing and sports. He is passionate about the issue of Climate Change and though his views are radical and fantastic, he remains grounded in realism. "

Meera Ghani National Coordinator (Pakistan)

Meera Ghani has been working on climate change since the past 7 years. She works on European Climate and Energy Policy for WWF and more recently has been focusing on issues from a Developing Country perspective.
A native of Pakistan, Meera holds an MSc in Environmental Economics and Environmental Management from the University of York and an MA in European Policy from Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB).
She follows the international negotiations process closely and has been keen to get the South Asian youth more actively involved. She is therefore helping the Pakistan Youth Climate Network (PYCN) gain momentum. In her free time Meera organizes climate friendly concerts and is the founder of greengigs.

Rishikesh Bhandari Coordinator- Thematic

Rishikesh has been on a mission to learn how climate change is affecting Nepal. He has been trying to understand climate change through a variety of different approaches like development, negotiations/diplomacy, and policy. Part of these efforts culminated into an undergraduate honors thesis that tried to take a holistic look at climate change.
During the Bali conference and subsequently, Rishikesh realized the amazing power that youth hold and the necessity to step up youth involvement in climate change negotiations.
He is a student at the Fletcher School, Tufts University, where he is getting a Masters in Law and Diplomacy.

She works with Sanctuary Asia, a wildlife and conservation magazine and with the Indian Youth Climate Network. She has a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication with a major in Journalism. In her spare time she works with an animal welfare organization as a first-aid volunteer and is studying the application of Bach remedies for animals.

Anjila Manandharhas a Masters degree in Environmental Management from School of Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (SchEMS) affiliated to Pokhara University. She is currently working as a Program coordinator at Clean Energy Nepal (CEN), a non-profit organization focusing on research based education and advocacy campaigns on issues related to clean air, climate change, solid waste management, sustainable energy use and environmental conservation.
She was involved as a City Volunteer (CV) from Feb 2005 to Feb 2007 under City Volunteer Program jointly launched by Environment Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Clean Energy Nepal (CEN). And also a volunteer of Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW), Nepal from 2004 to 2005 under Community Resource program (CRP).
Ms. Anjila has three years of working experience in the environmental field and many years as a volunteer at CEN and SPW Nepal.

Dipesh Chapagain Coordinator- Volunteer

Dipesh Chapagain is Executive of Outreach unit in Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) and one of the founder members. Mr. Chapagain is pursuing his study on Masters of Environmental Science at Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University.
He has been involving in researches, awareness and advocacy campaign on Climate Change and related issues since past four years. He got the experiences of organizing first Nepalese Youth Summit on Climate Change and many such events. Southern Capacity Building Program (CANSA), BADLAAV ‘09 (IYCN) etc. are few of the international conference that Mr. Chapagain participated and was also the part to many other capacity building workshops and seminars. Mr. Chapagain have the very in-depth experience to work with grassroots level such as community people, youths and school students.
City Volunteer for Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Board member (Amrit Eco-Club), College Coordinator (Green Youth Network) etc are few of his past affiliation and beside this, He is also working as a program assistant in Clean Energy Nepal.
